How to Install Road Glide Speaker Grill Covers (Step-by-Step Guide)
Why Upgrade Your Road Glide Speaker Grill Covers?
Your Road Glide's fairing-mounted speakers take a beating from wind, road debris, and UV exposure. A set of custom 3D speaker grill covers from Brock Black Customs protects your speakers while giving your bike a head-turning look that stands out at every rally. Best of all, installation takes under 15 minutes with no special tools.
What You'll Need
- Your new Brock Black Customs Road Glide speaker grill cover set
- non maring tool
- Soft cloth or microfiber towel
- Optional: mild soap and water for cleaning the fairing surface
Compatibility
These covers fit 1998–2024+ Harley-Davidson Road Glide models. If you're unsure about fitment for your specific year, contact us before ordering.
Step-by-Step Installation
Step 1 – Prep Your Work Area
Park your bike on a level surface and let the engine cool. Lay a soft towel over the fairing to protect the paint while you work. Good lighting makes a big difference — work in your garage with the door open or outside on a clear day.
Step 2 – Remove the Stock Speaker Grills
Using your non maring tool and apply pressure between fairing and grill factory speaker grills. Most Road Glide models have 3–4 screws per grill. Set the clips and gaskets aside to use later
Tip: Take a quick photo before removal so you remember the clip positions.
Step 3 – Clean the Mounting Surface
Wipe down the speaker opening and surrounding fairing area with a clean microfiber cloth. If there's any grime or wax buildup around the mounting holes, a little mild soap and water cleans it right up. Let it dry completely before proceeding.
Step 4 – Position the New Grill Cover
Hold the new Brock Black Customs grill cover up to the speaker opening and align the mounting holes. The 3D design is directional — make sure the artwork is oriented the way you want it before clipping in. Most riders prefer the design facing forward (toward the front of the bike).
Step 5 – Secure the Cover
Apply clips and gaskets onto back of the new cover and into the fairing. Slightly press over clips first to make sure everything is aligned. Do not overtighten — firm is enough. Pressing on other parts of the grill can crack the grill or tabs
Step 6 – Repeat on the Other Side
Follow the same steps for the second speaker grill cover. Step back and check that both covers are level and the designs are oriented consistently.
Step 7 – Final Check
Give each cover a gentle tug to confirm it's secure. Wipe off any fingerprints with your microfiber cloth and admire the upgrade. You're done!
Care & Maintenance
Brock Black Customs grill covers are built to handle the road, but a little care goes a long way:
- Wash with mild soap and water — avoid harsh solvents or abrasive cleaners
- Apply a UV protectant spray a few times per season to keep colors vivid
- Check screws for tightness after long rides or rough roads
