Tools Required
- Safety glasses
- Non-marring pry tool (plastic trim removal tool)
Important Notes Before You Start
- Do not pry between the speaker grille and the inner fairing — this will damage the paint.
- Use care around the speaker when using the non-marring tool.
- The new speaker grilles are side-specific — left and right are not interchangeable. Confirm orientation before installing.
Step-by-Step Installation
Step 1 – Power Down the Motorcycle
Turn the key or ignition switch to the OFF position and remove the key. If your Challenger is equipped with a keyless fob, move the fob away from the vehicle before starting work.
Step 2 – Secure the Bike
Park the motorcycle on a flat, stable surface. Fully extend the kickstand and confirm the bike is stable before proceeding. Put on your safety glasses.
Step 3 – Remove the Factory Speaker Grille
Using your non-marring pry tool, carefully work around the edge of the factory inner speaker grill to release the retaining clips. Insert the pry tool between the grill and the fairing panel and apply gentle, even pressure to pop each clip free without scratching the fairing.
Tip: Work slowly and feel for each clip releasing. Rushing can break a clip or scratch the surrounding panel.
Step 4 – Save the Gasket and Clips
Once the factory grill is free, carefully remove the gasket and retaining clips from the old grill. These are reused with your new Brock Black Designs grill cover — set them aside in a safe place.
Step 5 – Pre-Fit the New Grill (Dry Run)
Hold the new grill up to the speaker opening without the gasket to verify fitment and confirm it is the correct side (left vs. right). It will feel slightly loose without the gasket — that's normal. Remove and set aside once confirmed.
Step 6 – Transfer Gasket and Clips to the New Grill
Fit the gasket and clips onto your new custom grill cover in the same positions they came off. Make sure the gasket seats flush and is not twisted or bunched anywhere around the perimeter.
Step 7 – Install the New Grill Cover
Align the new grill cover with the speaker opening in the fairing. Press firmly and evenly around the edges until all clips click into place. You should hear and feel each clip seat — if a section feels loose, press again until it snaps in.
Step 8 – Repeat on the Other Side
Follow the same process for the second speaker grill. Step back and check that both covers are flush with the fairing and the designs are oriented consistently side to side.
Step 9 – Final Check
Give each grill a firm tug to confirm all clips are fully seated. Wipe off any fingerprints with a clean microfiber cloth. You're done!
Tips for a Perfect Install
- Work in good lighting so you can see the clip positions clearly.
- A plastic trim removal tool (non-marring pry tool) is essential — metal tools will scratch your fairing.
- If a clip feels stiff, warm the area slightly with a heat gun on low for 10–15 seconds to make the plastic more pliable.
