How to Install 2024+ Road Glide Inner Fairing Speaker Grills (Frame-Mounted Fairing)

The 2024+ Harley-Davidson Road Glide (FLTRX, FLTRXSE) and 2024 Street Glide (FLHX) use a frame-mounted fairing with a clip-and-tab speaker grill system. There are no screws — just a non-marring pry tool and the right sequence. Follow this guide to remove your factory grills and install your new Brock Black Designs custom set without breaking a clip or scratching the fairing.

Kit Numbers: 76001297, 76001298

Fitment / Compatibility

This guide covers frame-mounted fairing models:

  • 2024+ Harley-Davidson Road Glide (FLTRX)
  • 2024+ Harley-Davidson Road Glide Special (FLTRXSE)
  • 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide (FLHX)

Tools Required

  • Safety glasses
  • Non-marring pry tool (plastic trim removal tool)

Critical Notes Before You Start

  • Always start with the upper inner clip (#4) first during removal — not following this sequence may damage the grill.
  • Always pry against the frame, never pull from the middle of the grill screen — this can crack the grill.
  • Do not pry against painted surfaces — only pry against the frame and structural fairing.

Step-by-Step Installation

Step 1 – Power Down and Secure the Bike

Turn the ignition to OFF and remove the key. If equipped with a keyless fob, move it away from the vehicle. Park on a flat, stable surface and fully extend the kickstand. Put on your safety glasses before starting.

Step 2 – Remove the Factory Speaker Grill

Using your non-marring pry tool, release the clips from their openings. Sequence matters:

  1. Start with the upper inner clip (#4) first — this is the most important step. Skipping this order risks cracking the grill.
  2. Pry against the frame, not the grill screen itself.
  3. Work to the outer upper clip (#3) next, then release any remaining clips.
  4. Once all clips are free, remove the factory speaker grill.

Step 3 – Pre-Fit the New Grill (Dry Run)

Before installing with gaskets and clips, do a quick dry fit of your new Brock Black Designs grill:

  • Install the grill without the gasket or clips to verify fitment.
  • Check that all tabs and edges line up correctly with the fairing opening.
  • The grill will feel slightly loose without the gasket — that's normal.
  • Remove and set aside once fitment is confirmed.

Step 4 – Prepare the New Grill

Transfer the gasket and clips from the OEM grill to your new Brock Black Designs grill:

  • Verify that the rubber gasket (2) is seated fully around the entire perimeter — flush, not twisted or bunched.
  • Confirm the retaining clips (1) are in place in their correct positions.

Step 5 – Install the New Grill

Installation follows a specific sequence — tabs first, then clips:

  1. Engage the lower tabs (7) onto the fairing first to anchor the grill at the bottom.
  2. Rotate the grill toward the fairing.
  3. Press the outer upper clip (5) into the outer clip opening (3). Press directly over the top of the clip to seat it into the mounting bracket.
  4. Press the inner upper clip (6) into the inner clip opening (4). Press directly over the top of the clip.

Critical: Always press directly over the top of each clip — pressing off-center can damage the grill. If a clip won't seat, recheck that the lower tabs are fully engaged and the gasket is sitting flush.

Step 6 – Repeat on the Opposite Side

Follow the same process for the second grill. Step back and confirm both grills are flush with the fairing and fully seated.

Step 7 – Final System Check

  1. Verify the ignition is OFF before reinstalling any fuses.
  2. Reinstall the main fuse, left side cover, and left saddlebag per your service manual.
  3. Turn the ignition ON (do not start the engine).
  4. Verify all speakers are working and front/rear fader function is operating correctly.
  5. If any speaker is not working, check connections before riding.

Tips for a Perfect Install

  • Clip sequence is everything — upper inner clip (#4) out first on removal, lower tabs in first on install.
  • A magnetic parts tray keeps clips and small parts organized.
  • If clips feel stiff, a brief warm-up with a heat gun on low (10–15 seconds) makes the plastic more pliable.
  • Always do the dry fit first — it takes 30 seconds and saves you from forcing a wrong-side grill into place.
